Well, it’s time. It’s time to drop that player you drafted or picked up waivers thinking he’d be the guy. It’s been a few weeks now and you need a solid bench player that is actually seeing opportunities in games.
Shake off the dead weight and make the most of your bench. Do you drop them or do you hold on to them? Is their usage dropping as the weeks go on? Every week I’ll be highlighting some players who are either losing opportunities on offense or are underperforming based on their roster percentage.
This can be used as a helpful way to decide on some players you can drop to waivers for the hot new items on the market. Maybe you’re on the fence about a bench player and seeing his name on this list will help you make that final decision!
I will only mention players with over 35% roster percentage because you can’t drop who you don’t have.
Let’s do this!
Mike Davis – 72.4% Roster Percentage
Please, you’ll be doing your fantasy teams a huge favor by dropping Davis. In a game where Cordarrelle Patterson suffered an ankle injury and wasn’t involved as much as he usually is, the RB to step up was Wayne Gallman. Gallman was on the field for 43% of snaps and had 16 total touches compared to Davis’ 37% and 4 touches. Pick up Gallman and drop Davis.
Jared Cook – 62.3%
Cook is losing his target share more and more as the weeks go on as he was fifth on the roster this week in targets. Despite a 10-point game last week, he’s had 4.5 and 2 point performances in the other two weeks since the Chargers’ bye in week 7. I’m not happy with Cook on my rosters and I’d bet you aren’t either, especially with a rough schedule in the upcoming weeks for tight ends.
Laviska Shenault – 49.3%
This is not what Shenault drafters were expecting this season, but he just doesn’t seem to be performing as well as expected. With a team-leading 8 targets this week he only caught 3 for 15 yards. His highest-scoring week since the week 7 bye was a 6-point performance last week. It’s not an exciting time with Shenault on our rosters and I believe he’s a comfortable drop – maybe Jamal Agnew is available for a pickup!
Jeremy McNichols – 44%
It appears we were all wrong on how this Tennessee backfield would look like with no Derrick Henry. D’Onta Foreman led all Titans RBs with touches with 13, compared to Adrian Peterson’s 9 and McNichols’ 5 touches. I think the RB to own in this backfield is Foreman and even that isn’t exciting. The three RBs shared the backfield snaps evenly as the three of them each had between 33-35% snap share. I’m comfortable dropping McNichols since he doesn’t seem to be the guy in this backfield.
