We’re getting to crunch time in the fantasy football season and you need to make some waiver moves. Especially this week with so many unfortunate injuries to top players. But in order to make a waiver pickup, you need to drop some players.
I’ll highlight a few guys that I’m personally comfortable dropping in my leagues.
This can be used as a helpful way to decide on some players you can drop to waivers for the hot new items on the market. Maybe you’re on the fence about a bench player and seeing his name on this list will help you make that final decision!
I will only mention players with over 35% roster percentage because you can’t drop who you don’t have.
Let’s do this!
Emmanuel Sanders – 69.8% Roster Percentage
It was fun while it lasted. Sanders had a GREAT start to the season, putting up 15 points per game in the first six weeks. Since then, unfortunately, he’s averaging 5.8 points per game. With Stefon Diggs becoming the target hog once again in Buffalo and the return of Dawson Knox, Sanders’ role in this offense is quiet and can be dropped.
Tyler Boyd – 69%
Oh boy. Boyd has been incredibly up and down this season, but his ceiling isn’t even high enough for me to feel he’s worthy of a roster spot. The Bengals have a rough rest-of-season schedule for WRs and Boyd is currently third on the team in targets. I’m not comfortable starting Boyd for the rest of the season unless there’s a major switch up in usage (which I don’t expect to happen). This late in the season I don’t think it’s worth holding on to underperforming WRs and you should be rostering higher-upside players. Boyd can be dropped if you need to.
Nyheim Hines – 47.2%
Hines was on this list last week but I felt the need to highlight him again, because he is still droppable in your fantasy leagues. Jonathan Taylor is putting on a show in the Colts backfield, leaving Hines to pick up some scraps in terms of usage. He’s had three consecutive weeks of four carries and then just four targets this past week after a whole zero targets the previous week. Hines does not have a consistent role in this offense and that doesn’t help his fantasy output. I’m dropping Hines wherever I have him.
