Well, it’s time. It’s time to drop that player you drafted thinking he’d be the guy. It’s been two weeks and you need a solid bench player that is actually seeing opportunities in games.
Shake off the dead weight and make the most of your bench. Do you drop them or do you hold on to them? Is their usage dropping as the weeks go on? Every week I’ll be highlighting some players who are either losing opportunity on offense or underperforming based on their roster percentage, then giving my opinion on if they’re droppable or not.
This can be used as a helpful way to decide on some players you can drop to waivers for the hot new items on the market. Maybe you’re on the fence about a bench player and seeing his name on this list will help you make that final decision!
I will only mention players with over 35% roster percentage because you can’t drop who you don’t have.
Let’s do this!
Ronald Jones – 71% Roster Percentage
It’s not going to happen. You know it’s not going to happen. It’s time to rip the band-aid off and get this man off of your roster. If you’ve got someone in your league willing to trade for him for a bench player, go for it. Otherwise, I’m dropping him and letting someone else fight for him. You aren’t starting him (and if you are, you can find a better option on the wire).
Marquez Callaway – 66%
We were all excited for what Marquez Callaway could do this season with Jameis Winston after that preseason game where he went off for two TDs. In the first two weeks, he has six total targets, which is tied for the second-most on the team with the TEs Juwan Johnson and Adam Trautman. This team is spreading the ball all over the place as four different receivers have caught the teams’ five total receiving TDs. Callaway is going to be a player with a few BIG games, but won’t be a startable player outside of those few – and good luck predicting when they’ll be. There are much more valuable WRs on the wire.
David Johnson – 57%
David Johnson is an afterthought in this Houston Texans backfield. He’s been out-touched by Mark Ingram in both games (41-14 total) and is tied with Philip Lindsay for touches (both at 14). He’s lost this starting role on the team and should no longer be rostered in fantasy. You can safely drop him and get a guy who is actually playing.
