You have to make the big decision to sign someone new on waivers this week, but picking someone up means you have to drop someone you currently own. It’s a decision that needs to be made every week.
Shake off the dead weight and make the most of your bench. Do you drop them or do you hold on to them? Is their usage dropping as the weeks go on? Every week I’ll be highlighting some players who are either losing opportunity on offense or underperforming based on their roster percentage.
This can be used as a helpful way to decide on some players you can drop to waivers for the hot new items on the market. Maybe you’re on the fence about a bench player and seeing his name on this list will help you make that final decision!
I will only mention players with over 35% roster percentage because you can’t drop who you don’t have.
Let’s do this!
Allen Robinson – 91.2% Roster Percentage
Oof. Is it finally time? Allen Robinson has cracked double digit fantasy points once this season and that was in week 2 with the help of his only TD on the season. Since then, he’s struggled to see the productive volume he is used to performing so well with. Robinson is in no way the one to blame here, as this Bears offense just isn’t being productive as a whole and the passing volume is mediocre. Darnell Mooney now leads this team in targets (and has all season) but even he isn’t producing a ton for fantasy. I have no issues dropping Robinson for someone else because it’s going to take a lot for me to feel comfortable starting him.
Odell Beckham Jr. – 86.2%
In the offseason I was already extremely low on OBJ for 2021 compared to others and what I’ve seen this season (or what I haven’t seen) has only helped my view on him. If you’re rostering OBJ you probably aren’t happy with his production so far this season and now the Browns may be without QB Baker Mayfield for some time. This is a run-first offense and OBJ isn’t the primary pass-catcher. Personally, I’m dropping OBJ if I can’t find another team in my league willing to trade for him.
Brandon Aiyuk – 52.6%
I’m not sure I really have to explain why Brandon Aiyuk is droppable, if you roster him in any league you know he isn’t playing well, if at all. Sometimes, though, you just need to see it in writing to feel free to drop someone. Aiyuk isn’t on the field for important drives throughout the game and isn’t being targeted on the drives he is on the field. He’s not producing any fantasy points for you. He can be dropped.
Drop Zone Returnees – Players I am STILL dropping
Nyheim Hines – 2.2 fantasy points this week and 28% of offensive snaps. He’s not worth holding.
Jonnu Smith – I’m just not interested in holding him
