The Drop Zone – Week 9 Droppable Players

Well, it’s time. It’s time to drop that player you drafted thinking he’d be the guy. It’s been two weeks and you need a solid bench player that is actually seeing opportunities in games.

Shake off the dead weight and make the most of your bench. Do you drop them or do you hold on to them? Is their usage dropping as the weeks go on? Every week I’ll be highlighting some players who are either losing opportunities on offense or are underperforming based on their roster percentage.

This can be used as a helpful way to decide on some players you can drop to waivers for the hot new items on the market. Maybe you’re on the fence about a bench player and seeing his name on this list will help you make that final decision!

I will only mention players with over 35% roster percentage because you can’t drop who you don’t have.

Let’s do this!

Robby Anderson – 67.2% Roster Percentage

I was truly holding out hope. Robby Anderson was seeing an average of 7.125 targets per game before week 8, but saw a whopping one target this week and that is where I draw the line. He has been seeing enough volume in the passing game to think “Maybe, maybe he’ll do something this week” and then he never does! A zero point outing is what finally brings Robby Anderson to my drop column. I’m not happy with him this season and I know you aren’t either. We’re safe now.

Damien Williams – 35.1%

He is no longer the backup to own in Chicago! Or I guess he hasn’t been for a few weeks now, but his 0 point game is not something I like to see. He’s a safe drop and not worth the roster spot anymore.

Kenneth Gainwell – 57.7%

What the heck happened? Throughout the season with a healthy Miles Sanders, Gainwell was seeing productive volume and was in some cases a worthwhile start. You would assume that if Sanders goes down, Gainwell would step in for a bigger workload. That is not at all what happened! Gainwell was completely phased out of the game while Boston Scott and Jordan Howard were the two RBs who received volume – and were GREAT. If this tells me anything, it tells me Gainwell isn’t a holdable option for fantasy.

Drop Zone Returnees – Players I am STILL dropping

Allen Robinson – He’s not being targeted on a low-volume passing offense.

Odell Beckham Jr. – One target this week. One. Good bye.

Nyheim Hines – There’s just no usage from him in Indy!
