I plan to make this a weekly article where I give you some of my favorite sleepers and just overall values in Underdog’s draft contests. If you have not already read my first article pertaining to tips and tricks that can be used in these contests, I suggest getting started there. These weekly articles will mainly strive to offer you with some values in your draft contests, no matter the size. Value #1 – Trevor Lawrence – QB Jacksonville Jaguars
Yes, yes, I know. It is horribly cliche to pick a rookie as a value in Week 1. But hear me out. Lawrence has arguably the best matchup for a quarterback in the whole entire league against Houston. His whole receiving corps is healthy and looking to make a statement in this revamped offense. Pair that with the fact that he is currently going as the 9th quarterback off the board, you can leave him until your absolute last pick and still walk away feeling confident.
Value #2 – Tyler Higbee – TE Los Angeles Rams
Higbee finally has the tight end room all to himself in Los Angeles AND has a quarterback that loves to target the tight end with Matthew Stafford. Partner those two things with the fact that the Rams face a Bears defense that was second worst against tight ends in the NFL in 2020 and that makes for a dream situation. Higbee also happens to be the 8th tight end off the board, so you can steal him late in your drafts.
Value #3 – Brandon Aiyuk – WR San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco isn’t exactly a hotbed of offensive passing weapons, but Brandon Aiyuk is an exception in Week 1. With pocket passing QB Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm, Aiyuk is bound to see a good chunk of targets, especially against a very weak Detroit secondary. Aiyuk is currency being drafted as the 19th WR off the board in draft contests. This is a great value, especially if you decide to prioritize RB or TE early.
Value #4 – Damien Harris – RB New England Patriots
After the shocking release of QB Cam Newton from the New England Patriots, rookie Mac Jones stepped into the starting role. This was a massive shift in value for Damien Harris, as a primarily rushing-centric quarterback vacated the offense for a pocket passer. Damien Harris just became far more vital to the Patriots’ success as they will need to feed him the ball to establish a ground game. As the RB24 in draft contests, he represents a huge value heading into Week 1.
