I’m going to preface this entire article with a warning: It is not a good week for streaming defenses. Surely next week I’ll look back and I’ll be wrong and there were a few solid DSTs I could have pointed out, but initially it looks bad. All the bad defenses seem to be playing to bad offenses and there aren’t many DSTs with low roster % ranking high in my projections. Be safe out there.
I’ll be highlighting DSTs that may still be available in your leagues, the ones that weren’t signed on waivers. These are DSTs that are still below a 35% in roster percentage on ESPN that I feel are startable if you’re still searching.
These options are only for the teams who didn’t pick someone up on waivers this week and still need a startable DST for the week. Your waivers may look barren and the top options are off the board, but I’ve got a few teams that may still be hanging around on your waivers.
My projections are based on Vegas odds, defensive and offensive player projections, starters, and positional matchups. These are your defensive detours!
Defenses Under 35% Roster Percentage
NY Giants – 4.0%
Opponent – CAR
In one of the lowest over/under lines from Vegas for the week, the New York Giants look to be a decent play this week at DST. Carolina has hit a snag on offense since Christian McCaffrey has been out and Sam Darnold has really slowed down his production. Darnold also currently has the seventh-highest turnover rate among QBs so far this season. For a high ceiling play at DST this week, the Giants aren’t a bad option.
Defenses Under 50% Roster Percentage
GB Packers – 45.0%
Opponent – WAS
Vegas is giving the Football Team an expected score of 20.75, which is right around the 20 points that I look for. The Football Team is also looking to play with a banged-up Antonio Gibson and Ricky Seals-Jones, two of their primary players in recent weeks. I’m not expecting a huge game from the Packers DST in this game, but more expecting a safe floor to get you through the week.
